About Sine Qua Non Salons

In business for 18 years, Sine Qua Non was founded by owner, Laura Boton.  Laura was driven to create her vision of a Utopian salon environment.  Disillusioned by the salons she had worked at previously, Laura's vision was to build an unpretentious, artistic and beautiful home for Chicagoans' and their hairdressers.  Sine Qua Non Salons are a comfortable and on-trend world where the typical salon stereotypes are absent.  Our salons have won multiple interior design awards and been featured in many major fashion magazines.  

Sine Qua Non as a brand has grown to be a strong force in the hair salon industry in Chicago and all over the country.  We are known for our technical advanced training program for young stylists just out of school, as well as our SQN Academy, which provides expert education to stylists from outside salons.  

The incredible talent of the Sine Qua Non Stylists and our passion for the industry, combined with the strong culture of the work environments Laura has created and nurtures enable Sine Qua Non to continue to grow and earn the respect of clients and industry leaders nation wide.
